Wolfblood Series 2 starts filming

Filming is underway in Newcastle on the second series of CBBC's hit series Wolfblood.

All the main cast including Aimee Kelly, Bobby Lockwood, Louisa Connolly-Burnham and Kedar Williams-Stirling are returning with some new faces too!

17 year old newcomer Leona Vaughan from Caerphilly joins the cast as Lana. Leona (represented by Mark Jermin Management) said “I am so excited to start filming. I loved this part from when I first read the script and I can’t wait to get into the story line."

The new series of Wolfblood is due to be aired in the autumn.

Sixteen

Sixteen, the debut feature film from award-winning short film writer/director Rob Brown, is set to start shooting at the end of March, starring Roger Nsengiyumva, Rachel Stirling, Rosie Day and Josef Altin.

Sixteen is an urban thriller about Jumah, an African former child soldier now living in London.Things have taken a turn for the better with Jumah now; he even has a sweet but tentative romance blossoming with a girl called Chloe at school. But then Jumah witnesses a stabbing in an underpass, forcing him to confront his own violent past. The men involved make sure Jumah says nothing to the police. Violence forces its way back into Jumah life.

Roger Nsengiyumva (represented by United Agents) leads the cast as Jumah. Roger starred in the CBBC Drama  Postcode and prior to that the acclaimed feature film Africa United. As a baby, he survived the Rwandan genocide and his mother Illuminee chronicled their moving story in a book 'Miracle in Kigali'. A photo of young Roger was spotted on the cover of this book by producers of 'Africa United' and this led to him being cast in his breakthrough film.

Rosie Day (now represented by Troika) plays his girlfriend Chloe. Rosie, who has been acting since she was a child, starred in the acclaimed horror feature The Seasoning House, last year filmed the Ironclad sequel in Serbia, and was recently seen in the ITV drama Homefront.

Deon Williams makes his feature film debut as Alex. Deon is a new talent from the Nottingham-based Television Workshop which celebrated its 30th birthday this month.

Sixteen is produced by Jake Hume and Nic Jeune for Seize Films and is set to shoot in London from 25th March to 13th April.

Montana

15 year old newcomer Mckell David will play the title role in new UK action feature film Montana, directed by Mo Ali.

He will star alongside The Killing’s Lars Mikkelsen, 2012 BAFTA Rising Star winner Adam Deacon, and Top Boy's Ashley Walters in the film which is about to start shooting in London.

Mikkelsen plays a steely eastern European hitman who arrives in London to avenge the death of his family but is held up after stumbling on a 14 year-old boy (played by Mckell), himself on the run from drug lords trying to kill him. The boy is mentored by Dimitri in survival and the dark arts of assassination and in so doing, learns the true meaning of friendship, honour and respect.

At the young age of 12 Mckell started his own (hidden camera/sketch) online comedy show via www.youtube.com/LilMckellTv where he went out pranking the public. He also featured in the award-winning feature film My Brother The Devil.

Mo Ali is a Somali-British film director who made his directorial debut with urban gang thriller Shank. Montana is set to start shooting mid-February in London.

Nicholas Hoult to star in Birdsong

Former Skins star Nicholas Hoult is set to star in the film adaptation of Sebastian Faulk's acclaimed novel Birdsong.

Hoult will play 21-year-old Stephen Wraysford, a WWI army officer, who falls in love with a beautiful older married woman -  a role played by Eddie Redmayne in the BBC's TV adaptation last year.

The screenplay is written by Rupert Wyatt based on Faulks’s book. Wyatt described Hoult as the "holy grail" in his search for a male lead to play the officer.

"His great weight, depth and range as a fearless young actor allow us to explore this timeless story of a boy broken by a tragic love affair and what it means for young men to experience the real horror of war."

Nicholas can currently be seen in zombie rom-com Warm Bodies and next up in the title role of Jack The Giant Slayer which is due in cinemas at the end of March.

Birdsong will shoot later this year on location in the UK and Belgium, with an autumn 2014 release date planned.

How to Catch a Monster

Saoirse Ronan and Matt Smith have joined the cast of Ryan Gosling's directorial debut How to Catch a Monster. They will join an ensemble cast including Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes, Matt Smith and Ben Mendelsohn.

Written and directed by Ryan Gosling, How to Catch a Monster weaves elements of fantasy noir, horror and suspense into a modern day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city, Billy (Hendricks) a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while Bones, her 18-yr-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town. Both Billy and Bones must dive deep into the mystery, if their family is to survive.

This will be current Doctor Who star Matt Smith's US acting debut.

The 18 year old Irish actress (represented by MacFarlane Chard in the UK) is currently shooting Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel and next stars in Working Title's Mary Queen of Scots. She can next be seen starring in The Host, the new screen adaptation of the bestselling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer, which is released in the UK at the end of March.

Casting is still on-going for the role of 18 year old Bones and his younger brother Frankie.

How to Catch a Monster is scheduled to begin shooting this May in Detroit.

First look at The Sparticle Mystery Series 2


The Sparticle Mystery returns to CBBC next week. Series 2 starts 10.10am Monday 11th February on the CBBC Channel, and then every day at 10:10am and 13:50pm for two weeks!

An experimental machine goes horribly wrong and suddenly, everyone on Earth over the age of 15 disappears. Ten children set out to find the truth behind the Sparticle Project.

Posh to be made into feature film

Posh, the critically-acclaimed and controversial West End play written by Laura Wade, set around the Riot Club, a drinking society made up of Oxford University's privileged elite, is to be made into a film.

Lone Scherfig, the director of An Education and One Day is on board to direct the feature, from a script written by Laura Wade. The film is currently casting.

Posh follows Miles and Alistair, two first year students determined to join the infamous Riot Club where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening.

The stage play premiered at the Royal Court in 2010 and then had a West End run at the Duke of York Theatre in 2012. The young cast included Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Kit Harington, and Joshua McGuire.

Posh the film is being produced by Blueprint Pictures with BFI Film Fund and Film4 as co-developers.

Director Lone commented,“Posh invites us into a uniquely fascinating and hilarious world to which none of us would normally have access. But this elite and refined world is not what it first seems, especially when its members are ‘chateau’ed and provoked….”

Posh is set to start shooting in May.

Agency offering new drama classes for all ages

Marlowes, an Agency based in London are starting New Drama Classes:

Group drama workshops with classes of 5 or more all ages from child to adult after school and weekends and also Lamda individual classes all ages. Initially starting with Lamda Exams to take the Lamda grade examinations. We will also teach Stagecraft, Diction, Poetry and Movement as well and Basic Acting Technique.

Sessions are aimed at developing performance skills and encouraging self expression through creative activities. Classes will help to develop confidence, physical awareness and communication in an educational and fun environment. They will be taught to express themselves creatively and effectively allowing us to nurture young talent whilst encouraging and inspiring those who might need additional confidence.

Narration, Improvisation, Basic script work, Devising, Devising from scripts, Performance techniques. classes to be fun and enjoyable. Each session will begin with drama games and exercises.

The Book Thief casting news

It's been a long process to find the young girl to star in 20th Century Fox's The Book Thief, the Michael Petroni-scripted adaptation of the best-selling Marcus Zusak novel.

Open casting calls went out across the USA and Europe to find the special young girl needed to play Liesl Meminger, the strong-willed "book thief" of the title.

12 year old French-Canadian youngster Sophie NĂ©lisse, who starred in last year’s Oscar-nominated foreign film Monsieur Lazhar, has landed the role. Liesel experiences life in Nazi Germany with her eyes wide open and seeks solace in the written word. Having lost her brother and mother, Liesel is sent to Himmel Street to live with foster parents where her curiosity and interest in books makes her steal them and her spirit and determination mean she is not afraid to do so. A great deal has been taken away from her. She steals books to settle the score. Liesel is feisty and spirited, she isn't afraid of the school bully or the SS soldiers. Liesel forms important close relationships in her new life with her kind foster father, the loveable boy down the street and her special confidant, the young Jewish man living in her basement.

12 year old German actor Nico Liersch will play Rudi Steiner,  Liesel's best friend described as having a heart of gold and a lust for life.

Ben Schnetzer, and American actor in his final year at Guildhall drama school in London will play the refugee Max who Liesl befriends.

Australian-born Geoffrey Rush and English actress Emily Watson are set to play the foster parents.

Brian Percival is attached to direct The Book Thief, and production is expected to begin in Berlin this month.

First look at new young cast of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is set to return for its third series in April, and here's our first look at two of the newcomers.

As announced back in July, 22 year old Thomas Brodie-Sangster (represented by Curtis Brown) is joining the cast as Jojen Reed, described as a mysterious and enigmatic young man who becomes an important ally to Bran Stark


He is joined by 22 year old Ellie Kendrick (represented by Curtis Brown) who plays Meera, his older sister, the only daughter of Greywater Watch reigning family House Reed.

CBeebies casting call for young twins

The makers of Baby Jake, Darrall Macqueen, are looking for 5 or 6 year old twins to be Topsy and Tim in their new pre-school drama series for CBeebies.

Same sex and mixed sex twins will be considered.

7 year old twins will also be considered if they are very small in height!

The filming will be from March until December in Twickenham, West London.
