Jamie Blackley (represented by United Agents) has been cast to star opposite Chloe Moretz, in the film adaptation of Gayle Forman's 2009 Young Adult novel If I Stay, in which he will play her boyfriend Adam.
If I Stay is the story of a 17 year old gifted classical musician Mia (Moretz) and
her boyfriend, Adam, an up and coming indie-rock star. Torn between two
paths in life, her art or her relationship, Mia is forced to make an
even starker choice between life and death when she is caught in a fatal
car accident with her family one snowy morning in Oregon.
21 year old Jamie has the musical credentials for the role of Adam. After appearing in the London stage production of Spring Awakening, he played George Harrison in the stage adaptation of Beatles musical Backbeat. Last year he filmed the lead role of Mark, alongside another rising star Toby Regbo, in the Andrew Douglas-directed uwantme2killhim?, for which they jointly won Best Performance in a British Feature Film at the Edinburgh Film Festival 2013.
Jamie can currently be seen in another British indie teen comedy We Are The Freaks, directed by Justin Edgar, and he also appears in the upcoming Julian Assange feature The Fifith Estate.
If I Stay is due to start shooting next month in Vancouver.
