Kaya Scodelario has joined the cast of The Maze Runner, Fox’s adaptation of the sci-fi Young Adult novel, the first in a series of books set in a post-apocalyptic world by James Dashner, directed by Wes Ball.
She's the fourth British actor to join the cast, joining the already announced Aml Ameen as Alby, Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Newt, and Will Poulter as Gally.
21 year old American actor Dylan O’Brien, star of MTV's Teen Wolf, is set to take the lead role of Thomas.
Kaya will play Teresa, the only female Glader and Thomas's best friend, who falls into a coma after arriving with a message that she's the last one, and speaks to Thomas through telepathy.
Kaya (represented by Curtis Brown in the UK) started her acting career as Effy in Skins and went on to star in Wuthering Heights, her most recent film Emanuel and the Truth about Fishes premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
The only cast member to appear in all previous six series of Skins, Kaya will return to E4 in Skins - Fire, one of the three individual stories making up the final instalment of Skins.
Rehearsals for The Maze Runner are currently underway, with shooting set to start in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in May.
