Filming is currently underway in the Isle of Man on new CBBC drama The Knot, for which a casting call was placed on Screenterrier back in April.
Two young newcomers, Joseph Galluci playing 11 year old Rocket and Helen Smith playing 14 year old Alli, join Debra Stephenson, Mark Moraghan and Kelle Bryan in the 3-part series being produced by Lime Pictures.
Set in the heart of the Isle of Man and surrounded by the Irish sea, The Knot is a special place, where raw and rugged nature plays host to a stream of kids with complex lives, all fostered by Peter (Anthony Flanagan) and Sarah Boulsworth (Debra Stephenson) and their kids, Rocket and Alli.
Much to the distrust of many of the locals, the Boulsworths are a foster family offering emergency and short-term care, looking after children on a temporary basis until permanent arrangements can be made – and Rocket and his sister Alli have to share their home and their parents with a regular stream of incomers.
But when 14-year-old Casey Parker and his 11-year-old sister Lena arrive at The Knot, Rocket and Alli find themselves at the centre of a dangerous mystery....
Casey is played by Keith Rice (represented by Robert Kelly Associates) from Liverpool.
Sydney Wade (represented by Scala Kids) from Leeds, who played Amy in Marchlands, plays his younger sister Lena.
CBBC executive producer Sue Nott comments: “We know the CBBC audience will love this new drama from Lime Pictures with its rural setting and cast that includes lots of animals - it features horses, cows, a baby calf and a heroic sheepdog.”
The three-part drama is written by Nick Leather, and directed by Dirk Campbell. The series will film on location in the Isle of Man and at Lime Pictures' Liverpool base, and is scheduled for an autumn transmission on CBBC.
