Game of Thrones Series 3 young cast announced

The new young cast members who are joining acclaimed HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones were announced last night at Comic Con in San Diego.

22 year old Thomas Brodie-Sangster (represented by Curtis Brown) will play Jojen Reed, a mysterious and enigmatic young man who becomes an important ally to Bran Stark (played by Isaac Hempstead-Wright). Thomas has been acting since he was a child, with an illustrious CV including the first Nanny McPhee, Nowhere Boy and Some Dogs Bite. He recently starred in the lead role of a young boy dying of cancer in Death of a Superhero.

22 year old Ellie Kendrick (represented by Curtis Brown) will play Meera Reed, the eldest daughter of Howland Reed and a staunch Stark loyalist. Meera and her younger brother Jojen seek out Bran Stark to protect him on his hard journey north. Ellie starred as Anne Frank in the 2009 BBC adaptation of  The Diary of Anne Frank, and has appeared in Being Human and  Upstairs Downstairs.

13 year old Kerry Ingram (represented by Robert Kelly Associates) is to play Shireen Baratheon, the only child of Stannis Baratheon. An avid reader, she escapes her lonely life through myths and stories – her books are her most treasured possessions. Kerry was one of the original Matildas and won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 2012, she also has a small role in the upcoming Les Miserables feature film.

Hollyoaks star Nathalie Emmanuel (represented by A&J Management) joins the cast as Missandei. Originally from the peaceful island of Naath, Missandei was sold into slavery as a child, along with her brother. She received education in various languages and became a translator to the slave trader Kraznys in Astapor. Nathalie landed her first role on the professional stage at the age of 10 when she starred in the original London cast of The Lion King, playing Young Nala. She then went on to play the role of Sasha Valentine in Channel 4's popular soap, Hollyoaks.

Season 3 of Game of Thrones is due to premiere in March/April 2013.
