First look at the stars of Sally Potter's Bomb

Here's a first look at the young stars of director Sally Potter's latest project (provisionally called Bomb) which is currently filming on location in London - 13 year old Elle Fanning (with newly-dyed hair) and 17 year old Alice Englert as Ginger and Rosa. They were cast after the producers held an online casting call to find two girls to play the lead roles.

The film also stars Annette Bening, Alessandro Nivola, Christina Hendricks, Timothy Spall, Oliver Platt and Jodhi May.

And here's the official synopsis:

London, 1961, at the start of the ‘sexual revolution’. Two teenage girls – born on the day the first atom bomb falls on Hiroshima – are inseparable. They dream of lives bigger than their mothers’ frustrated domesticity, but their fantasies are threatened by the fear of nuclear war. When Rosa begins an affair with Ginger’s charismatic, wayward father, Roland, the girls’ friendship is shattered. Ginger, suddenly alone, becomes fiercely active in the “Ban the Bomb” movement. The imminent explosion in Ginger’s family is echoed in the world around them as the Cold War reaches crisis point. While Ginger joins increasingly violent anti-nuclear demonstrations, Rosa falls into sexual and religious obsession. As war breaks out at home, with deadly inevitability, Ginger clutches at one hope: if she can save the planet from extinction, perhaps she too will live beyond this movement of private annihilation.
