the casting call back in September searching for a young actress to play a 15 year old Barbara Windsor in her Little Cracker, coming up this Christmas on Sky1.
16 year old newcomer Samantha White (represented by Abacus Agency) landed the role of the young Cockney actress.
She says of Samantha's casting:
"We were looking for someone who was tiny and looked like me, but, of course, there aren't many of us around. A lot of the girls who came in were much taller, or if there were shorter they looked too young. Then this girl, Samantha White, walked in and reminded me of myself with a little plump face and these teeth, and this fine, blonde hair. Her audition impressed me because she's learned the script and she said "I've been watching your films as well," which I thought was really nice. And she didn't have any experience either, which reminded me of myself."
Sally Hawkins plays her mother, and Neil Jackson her father.
After the success of last year's series which featured shorts from Stephen Fry, Dawn French, Jo Brand, and Catherine Tate amongst others, Sky have secured another star-studded line-up for their cracking short film series.
The new series for this Christmas features along with Barbara Windsor, Jack Whitehall, Sheridan Smith, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Jane Horrocks, Shappi Korsandi, Johnny Vegas, Harry Hill, John Bishop, Alan Davies and Sally Lindsay. The series gives stars the chance to tell how they did something for the first time.
Barbara Windsor's Little Cracker "My First Bra" airs at 9pm on the 18th of December on Sky1.
