Shooting is about to start in and around London on Fast Girls, a feature film about a rivalry on the athletics track between two girls from different backgrounds, scripted by Noel Clarke, Jay Basu and Roy Williams and directed by commercials director Regan Hall.
Two worlds collide on the athletics track when streetwise Shania meets ambitious, middle-class Lisa. The two girls eventually overcome their rivalry and unite to achieve their ultimate dream of reaching a championship final.
Lenora Crichlow (Being Human), represented by BWH, takes the lead role of Shania, a 100m sprinter from the London ghetto.
Guildhall drama school graduate Lily James (represented by Tavistock Wood) who received rave reviews for her portrayal of Desdemona opposite Dominic West in The Sheffield Crucible's production of Othello, stars alongside her as Lisa. Lily played Ethel Brown in last year's CBBC drama Just William.
Also on the team of girl sprinters are Arts Ed graduate Lashana Lynch (also represented by BWH), dancer Dominique Tipper, and genuine athlete, triple-jumper Hannah Frankson.
Noel Clarke will play Tommy, with Merlin star Bradley James as Carl, with Rupert Graves, Phil Davies, and Lorraine Burroughs also amongst the cast.
If you'd like to take part in the film, the production team are looking for extras for the crowd scenes as well as experienced athletes to take part in the races.
The aim is to release the film in the UK in June 2012 in time for the 2012 London Olympics.
