Meet the four West End Matildas

Back in August last year, Screenterrier reported on the three young actresses sharing the role of Matida in Matilda The Musical which played to sold-out audiences at the RSC’s The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon for twelve weeks from November 2010 to January 2011.

The four young actresses who will share the title role in the London transfer of the production have now been announced. The production will preview at the Cambridge Theatre from Tuesday October 18th.

One of the three original Matildas in Stratford, 12 year old Kerry Ingram returns to play the role in the West End. Kerry (represented by Kelly Management) trained at Corona Youth Theatre and has appeared in numerous productions including Oliver! (Theatre Royal Drury Lane) and Beauty and the Beast (Theatre Royal Windsor).

Born in Merseyside, ten year old Eleanor Winifred Worthington Cox trained at Formby School of Dance and Performing Arts from a very young age. Eleanor performed as part of the chorus in Bill Kenwright’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the Liverpool Empire. She will make her professional West End debut with the RSC in Matilda The Musical.

Born in Cyprus, eleven year old Cleo Demetriou now lives in London. Cleo has been performing in the West End since the age of seven. She made her professional debut playing Gretl in The Sound of Music (London Palladium) and has recently performed alongside Alfie Boe and Matt Lucas in Les Miserables.

Making her professional debut in Matilda The Musical, eleven year old Sophia Kiely was born in London and attends the Royal Academy of Dance.
