Shooting is underway in the East End of London on new British thriller Twenty8K, written by multi-award-winning Paul Abbott (Shameless, State of Play) and Jimmy Dowdall, and produced by Formosa Films.
The film stars Bend It Like Beckham and ER star Parminda Nagra as Deeva who returns home following the shocking news that her younger brother, played by newcomer Sebastian Nanena (right),
has been involved in a gangland shooting, and Robin Hood star Jonas Armstrong as youth worker Clint.
The film also includes a host of young British stars including Michael Socha, recently seen in Being Human, as gang leader Tony, Nichola Burley who recently filmed Wuthering Heights, as his girl-friend Andrea, and Skins star Kaya Scodelario, who will also be seen later this year in her first lead role as Cathy in Wuthering Heights.
A teenage boy is gunned down outside a nightclub, then a young girl is involved in a hit and run outside a hotel. Fashion executive Deeva Jani, returns home to investigate her brother Vipon's involvement but soon discovers a much deeper conspiracy. With the aid of an enigmatic youth worker Clint O'Conner, Deeva is led into the dark underbelly of a corrupt town full of terrifying secrets. Facing exposure, powerful adversaries descend upon her and she is forced to risk everything in order to save her brother.
