Deadline is reporting that young British actress, 19 year Eleanor Tomlinson has landed the female lead role opposite the recently announced Nicholas Hoult in Bryan Singer's Jack The Giant Killer.
She will play Isabella, the princess who runs away from the kingdom and is kidnapped by the giants. Before that happens, she runs into Jack, the son of a farmer and makes a strong enough impression that he leads a mission into the land of the giants to get her back.
Singer did an extensive search before deciding on Tomlinson, with model Gemma Ward and British actress Juno Temple all rumoured to be in the frame.
Eleanor (represented by Conway Van Gelder), from Beverley, started acted as a child and her first film role was playing the young version of Jessica Biel's character Duchess Sophie Von Teschen in Neil Burger's film The Illusionist, which also starred Edward Norton.
Her biggest role to date was in teen comedy Angus, Thongs And Perfect Snogging, shot by Bend It Like Beckham director Gurinder Chadha, and she most recently played the spiteful Fiona Chataway in Tim Burton's adaptation of Alice In Wonderland, who appeared at the beginning of the film before Alice falls down the rabbit hole.
In 2009 she had some bad luck when a movie she was due to shoot with Pierce Brosnan, Heaven And Earth, was cancelled due to lack of funds just before shooting started.
Jack The Giant Killer is due to start shooting in London this month and will also star Ewan McGregor as a soldier who guards the king, and Stanley Tucci as the villain.
