Critics Circle Young British Performer of the Year

The London Critics’ Circle has announced the nominees for its 31st Film Awards, including five fantastic young actors all nominated for the Young British Performer of the year, and all previously featured on Screenterrier.

The five nominees for Young British Performer of the Year are:

18 year old Jessica Barden for her role in Tamara Drewe . Jessica will also be seen in 2011 playing a supporting role in Saoirse Ronan's new feature Hanna, and also as the lead in iFeatures indie The Dark Half.


17 year old Connor McCarron for his role in NED which was the first film role for the Scottish newcomer.


18 year old Will Poulter  for his role as Eustace in The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Will came to prominence when he starred in the film Son Of Rambow, and also gives a virtuoso performance in E4's School of Comedy.








16 year old established star Saoirse Ronan for her role in Peter Weir's The Way Back.




Thomas Turgoose for his role in The Scouting Book for Boy. Thomas was also back on our TV screens this year reprising his portrayal of Shaun in This Is England 86.


The Critics’ Circle Film Awards will be held for the first time at BFI Southbank on February 10, to benefit the group’s new charity partner, the BFI Archive.
