Will Young to star in TV supernatural drama

Singer turned actor Will Young is to star in a brand new six-part thriller for Living called Bedlam. The Pop Idol winner will play Ryan who lives in a block of flats which used to be a Victorian hospital for the insane - and it's haunted. The six part thriller will also star Theo James, Charlotte Salt and Ashley Madekwe and is Living's first foray into original drama - having previously relied on US imports such as Ghost Whisperer and Medium.

Bedlam is being made by Red Production Company, the indie behind BBC2’s recent Boy George biopic Worried About the Boy.
The 6 x 60-minute series is due to air early in 2011 and is set in Bedlam Heights, a former pre-Victorian asylum block which frightens residents with a string of scary supernatural visits following its conversion into an apartment building.
Claudia Rosencrantz, Living TV’s director of television, said she had been hunting for “ages” to find the right original drama idea for the channel.
“Bedlam is the perfect fit. It’s sexy, stylish and truly scary. It is about very frightening things happening to very beautiful people,” said Rosencrantz.

The role marks Will Young's first major regular drama role but he has had previous acting experience appearing in the 2005 film Mrs Henderson Presents, guest starring in Skins and ITV's Miss Marple: The Mirror Crack'd Side to Side.
