Just William casting news

10 year old Daniel Roche (represented by the Margaret Howard Agency), who plays mischievous middle child Ben Brockman in BBC1's acclaimed comedy Outnumbered, is to play the eponymousWilliam Brown, the iconic rascal and leader of The Outlaws, in a new BBC adaptation of Richmal Crompton's Just William books.

William's lisping nemesis Violet Elizabeth Bott - whose constant threat to 'thcream and thcream 'till I'm thick' drives him batty - will be played by 7 year old Isabella Blake-Thomas (Sylvia Young Theatre School), familiar to viewers of CBeebies Lily-Rose's Garden.

Harry Melling (Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter films) (represented by Ken Mcreddie) will play William's long-suffering older brother Robert.

William's pal Henry is played by 10 year old newcomer Robert Foster (represented by Kreative Talent) from Doncaster.

The film, which shoots for four weeks in July, will be shown in four half-hour episodes in the BBC Children strand on BBC1 in the run-up to Christmas.
