Casting for Stephen Spielberg's film adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's acclaimed children's novel "War Horse" has been underway since May.
Latest rumours via The Playlist suggest the lead role of Albert will be taken by rising British star Eddie Redmayne, (represented in the UK by United Agents). The 28 year old made his film debut in Savage Grace, was also seen in Glorious 39, and will soon be seen in "Pillars of the Earth", a star-studded adaptation of Ken Follett's novel which has just be bought up by Channel 4.
DreamWorks Studios, which is releasing the film has denied the rumours whilst confirming that Spielberg is in fact casting the movie right now but has yet to settle on anyone.
The book has already been made into a successful National Theatre stage play, with the role of Albert played by Kit Harington, himself about to start filming on HBO's Game of Thrones in July.
The script for the film, sourced from both the play and the book, has been written by Lee Hall (Billy Elliot).
Filming on War Horse is scheduled to start in August with an anticipated release date of August 2011.
