War Horse gets its Albert

Rumours that Eddie Redmayne had been cast in Steven Spielberg's up-coming adaptation of Michael Morpugo's children's novel and successful National Theatre play, War Horse, have proved to be unfounded.

Taking the role of Albert is young British newcomer Jeremy Irvine (represented by Hatton McEwan). After leaving school at 18, Jeremy completed a foundation course at LAMDA and then decided against three years of Drama School, opting to approach agencies directly, and went on to land the role of Luke in Disney's Life Bites.

Another newcomer, London teenager Celine Buckens takes the role of young French girl Emilie.

And experienced 15 year old German actor, Leonard Carow has been cast as Michael.

War Horse starts shooting in the UK in August, the first time Spielberg has shot here since Saving Private Ryan. This gives Spielberg exactly a year to get the movie ready for its August 10, 2011 US release. No word yet on a UK date.
