Jack O'Connell, star of Skins Series 3 and 4, is off to South Africa in April to film an adaptation of Martina Cole's best-seller The Runaway.
It's the story of two children who are thrown together in the East End of London, before life takes them in different directions. Cathy is the child of a prostitute, who is eventually forced to run away to Soho after being put into care, while Eamonn Docherty flees to America and becomes a hard edged villain. Life takes them in very different directions before their paths cross again.
Starring opposite Jack, is newcomer Joanna Van der Ham, originally from Dundee but who is now currently in her second year at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. She was spotted by a casting director during an acting workshop.
19 year old Jack, from Alvaston, Derby, who attended the Television Workshop in Nottingham, will also soon be seen on TV in a two-part drama Dive which is due to be shown on BBC2 this spring.
