The new Jane Eyre

Last year it was rumoured that Ellen Page, star of Juno, was to take the titular role in BBC Films new production of Jane Eyre. But it appears that Screenterrier's Face to Watch Mia Wasikowska has been cast in the lead role.
This big screen version of Charlotte Bronte’s romantic novel with gothic overtones, is to be directed by Cary Fukunaga with Ruby Films' Alison Owen and Paul Trijbits producing.
The new film intends to emphasize the 'sinister gothic' elements of the original story. Michael Fassbender will play Mr Rochester.
Wasikowska is currently being seen on TV in the UK as the young gymnast in pyschotherapy drama In Treatment and will next be seen on the big screen as Alice alongside Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland," which Disney is releasing next year.
Filming on Jane Eyre is due to start at the beginning of next year.
