Shooting begins in late October of Gustavo Ron's "Ways to Live Forever" adapted from the highly acclaimed children's book by Sally Nicholls. It tells the story of 11 year old Sam played by 14 year old Robbie Kay from Tyneside (represented by Independent Talent) who rose to stardom with a highly acclaimed performance in Fugitive Pieces. His best friend Felix is played by Alex Etel (also of Independent Talent), star of Millions and The Water Horse. Eloise Barnes (Mark Jermin Management), currently appearing as Hannah Reynolds in Eastenders, has been cast as his younger sister Ella.
Sam loves facts. He wants to know about UFOs and horror movies and airships and ghosts and scientists, and how it feels to kiss a girl. And because he has leukaemia he wants to know the facts about dying. Sam needs answers to the questions nobody will answer.
His parents in the film are Ben Chaplin and Natasha McElhone. About a Boy and Harry Potter star Natalia Tena (Curtis Brown), who is now 25 years old, also features.
Filming will take place in Newcastle and Spain.
